Chapter 48

His voice gave her shivers, there was something about that deep, whisky roughened voice that zinged right through her and gave her erotic dreams. With him standing right in front of her, leaning on the reception desk smiling, she was toast. It took a moment before she could answer the phone and then botched the greeting she did a hundred times a day. Finally, she had them all settled and looked back up to find that he’d slid his sunglasses down his nose and those mesmerizing blue eyes were trained on her.

“We’ve come to see Ms. Sullivan, as well, could you please let her know we’ve arrived?”

Nodding, she punched a button without even looking down, “Ms. Sullivan, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora are here to see you.”

Looking up, Jon rolled his eyes, the stupid bitch hit the office intercom button not Amber’s private line. Well, so much for sneaking in to see her, now her whole office knew he was here. Turning towards Richie, he saw his friend turn his hands up in a shrugging motion. “Ah, miss? You forgot to announce to the world that this other young lady is here to see her as well.”

“Oh” her face flushed deep red, Penny hit Brooke’s extension. “Could you tell Ms. Sullivan that her friend Cassidy is here as well.” Hanging up before Brooke had a chance to answer. Turning her attention to the trio in front of her, “I’m a huge fan, I’ll be at the show tonight. Third row, Richie’s side. I’m in the fan club.” Beaming as she’d overcome her shyness. “My friends and I are leaving from here. Don’t you have to be at sound check or something soon? I mean, don’t you usually go to the venue really early?”

Jon wandered away from the desk and the little magpie that suddenly found her voice. He let Richie handle her, all he wanted was to get his hands on Amber and show her how much he missed her.

“Amber?” Brooke poked her head in her boss’s office. “Didn’t you hear that page?”

“Huh? No, I was on the phone and I had them turn that off in here, it’s distracting. Why?”

“You have visitors.”

“Yeah, I know. Cassidy and I are going to lunch.” Stopping, she saw the Cheshire grin on her assistant’s face, “wait, visitors, plural?”

Nodding vigorously. “Penny said that Jon Freakin’ Bon Jovi and Richie Ohmygod Sambora are out there. What are they doing here? They’re not on your calendar.”

“That’s because I wasn’t expecting them today,” trying to look unfazed by their arrival here. Jon promised on the phone last night that they’d have a romantic dinner tomorrow and would be able to spend the night together. She never expected him to show up here today. Standing then, she smoothed her skirt, “guess I better not keep them waiting.” A strained smile on her lips. Fully aware that her assistant thought it was strained because she didn’t want to meet with them when it was more a case she was afraid she’d see Jon and run into his arms. Walking towards the reception desk she could feel the buzz as she went by, every woman in the place was wondering what they were doing here.

Rounding the corner to where Penny sat, she could hear voices and was stunned to find half a dozen women milling around. Clearing her throat when she spied Bridget sweet-talking Jon, a bubble of jealousy rising that she wasn’t accustomed to feeling. “Ladies, don’t you all have work to do? I’m sure these gentlemen didn’t come here for a meet and greet.” Watching them scuttle away, she stood where she was, her eyes locked with Jon’s. It had been the longest two weeks of her life. Right now she wanted to take him in her arms and show him exactly how much she missed him, her fingers sifting through that messy mane of blond hair, her lips crushed under his and not a stitch of clothes between them. Reining in her wild imagining, she smiled at him, and then at Richie. “This is a pleasant surprise. Cassidy, you’ve met Jon and Richie, right?” Doing her best to act professional and not give away how well they both knew these two men.

One thing about Cassidy, she knew how to follow Amber’s lead. “We met in the elevator.” Not letting on which elevator or exactly when she’d met them or rather Richie there.

“Good. Mr. Bon Jovi, it’s nice to see you again.” Approaching, she went to give him a quick peck on the cheek while her hand that wasn’t planted on his chest brushed lightly across his ass.

He’d turned his head as her mouth advanced on him and captured her lips with his. Lingering just a moment, not enough to give the receptionist or any of the others that had rounded the corner behind Amber a reason to talk, but just enough to see her reaction. Then realizing her palm was still on his ass. “Ah, Ms. Sullivan, this isn’t a scratch and sniff.” Amusement coloring his words.

“Excuse me.” She removed her hands from his body when she wanted him naked as soon as possible. “I didn’t mean to do that.” Blushing more from the audience seeing her do it than anything. “Would you gentlemen like to come in my office?” Glancing at Richie and seeing Cassidy nearly choke on her phrasing.

“No, I think I’ll wait here. Are we still going to lunch?” Cassidy managed without laughing.

Richie couldn’t stop the grin plastered all over his face, one thing he sucked at was having a poker face, he lost all the time at it too because when he had a good hand everyone could read it on his face. “Yeah, you don’t mind if we join you two ladies, do you?”

“Oh no, not at all.” Cassidy answered for the two of them. “Right, Amber?”

“No. Let me go get my purse if that’s what we’re doing.” Tempted to grab Jon’s hand and drag him into her office.

Penny silently sat there in shock. Amber Sullivan was acting so nonchalant around Jon and Richie it was as if she knew them! Recalling the conversations in the break room, she was convinced that there was no way that was possible and yet something in the way that Jon was watching her said differently. One thing she was going to do when she got the chance, she’d find out if Amber belonged to the fan club and if she did, she would find her user name. She would get to the bottom of this and find out if she was the woman that was claiming on the boards to be more than friends with Jon.

“Mind if I join you? I’d like to see the offices for the production company. It says a lot about the kind of movies they put out.” He didn’t give a fuck about the offices, but since he did know that Amber had a private office, he did want to see it.

Leading the way back, she pointed out where different departments were located and then stopped and held her door for him. “This is my office.” Seeing Brooke all but drooling, she smiled. “Brooke, could you hold my calls for about five minutes, please.” Following him inside, she closed the door and found herself flat against it in a flash of a moment. Gasping when his mouth crushed down on hers. She reached up, jamming her fingers in that mass of soft, thick blond hair, almost as desperate for this as she was for this leg of the tour to be over. He’d promised that they’d spend most of his down time together, although he also had to spend time with his kids. She could deal with that, right now she was more interested in dealing with a horny boyfriend.

Jon couldn’t get enough of her, his mouth on hers, their tongues tangling in their own dance as he reached down and roughly shoved her skirt up so he could feel her flesh in his hands. Finding that she was wearing a garter belt and a thong, he groaned. She was going to be the death of him, pushing the scrap of material aside to slide his fingers against the bare, wet folds that he remembered in his nightly dreams.
